Merits of Reciting and Bearing the Quran


‘Uthman ibn ‘Affan (may God raise his rank) stated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said what means: “The best among you is one who learns the Quran and teaches it.” (reference: al-Bukhari)

‘A’isha (may God raise his rank) stated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said what means: “The one who recites the holy book eloquently will be in the company of the noble angels. And the one who recites it with difficulty will have twice the reward.” (reference: al-Bukhari and Muslim)

‘Abdullah ibn Mas‘ud (may God raise his rank) stated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said what means: “Whoever recites one letter from the Quran has one good deed, and its reward is multiplied by ten.” (reference: al-Tirmidhi)

Ibn ‘Abbas (may God raise his rank) stated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said what means: “A heart without Quran is like a ruined house.” (reference: al-Tirmidhi)

Mu‘adh ibn Anas (may God raise his rank) stated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said what means: “Whoever recites the Quran and acts according to its teachings, his parents will be adorned with a crown on the Day of Judgment, its radiance more beautiful than the sunlight in your houses. So what would the reward be for the one who acts according to it?” (reference: Abu Dawud)
